On Friday 17th August 2007, Hurricane Dean tore through the eastern Caribbean claiming a number of lives.  It continued to strengthen to Category 4 as it passed to the south of Jamaica over the weekend causing considerable damage on the southern coast. 

MapAction deployed a team of nine volunteers to Kingston to provide field data collection and mapping support the government and United Nations.
