MapAction team member Philip Moore has returned from a one-month attachment to the UN Joint Logistics Centre responding to the flooding emergency in Pakistan which affected more than one million people. Based in Islamabad, he produced situation maps for the logistics coordination cluster and other humanitarian organisations.
Philip is a professional cartographer, with experience of project work in harsh environments like Afghanistan, who joined MapAction as a volunteer within the past year. Following specialist training on humanitarian mapping methods by MapAction in the UK, and participation in UN training exercises, he was selected by UNJLC to undertake the short-term consultancy project in Pakistan. Philip commented: "It was a privilege to work with such fantastic people on such a worthwhile tasking".
