MapAction will benefit from a new three-year grant from the Man Group plc Charitable Trust, it was announced in March. The grant will fund MapAction’s emergency response capability and its capacity-building work. The Trust is aiming to grant a total of £60,000 between now and 2010.
Man Group plc is a large investment products and services corporation, headquartered in London. The charitable trust funded by the Man Group supports a wide range of causes in the UK and internationally. Andrew Douglas-Bate, Chairman of MapAction, said: “We are delighted by this extremely generous and important new grant support. It is a significant step in broadening our funding base, and will allow us to put more of our volunteers into the field to respond to humanitarian crises and to transfer technical know-how to disaster-prone countries.”
Separately in the same week Ordnance Survey, the UK's national mapping agency, extended its funding support to MapAction for a further three years. Ordnance Survey has been supporting MapAction since 2006.
