The Board of Trustees is the governing body of MapAction. It has ultimate responsibility in law for the charity, its assets and activities. The Trustees (listed below) have been elected because of their experience, varied skills and commitment to the growth and success of the charity.

Andrew Douglas-Bate, MBE
Andrew has been in business, steel, shipping, commercial security and recruitment, for 45 years, working in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, India and the Americas. He was founder of EuroDefense UK in 1996 and co-founder of MapAction in 1997.

James Brown
James has spent 15 years working on the frontline of humanitarian affairs. He has worked for various international NGOs and United Nations organisations and spent 7 years in the emergency response team for the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID). He currently consults on international projects and is an active United Nations disaster coordinator.

Jonathan, The Earl of Cork and Orrery
Jonathan Cork recently retired as a director of ED&F Man Sugar, the global commodities trading firm. In his earlier career, he served for 15 years in the Royal Navy, and commanded the submarine HMS Sealion. He is an active voluntary trustee of several charities in the UK.

Peter, The Earl of Inchcape
Peter, after a short time in the Army, did his financial training with banks in the City and then joined Inchcape plc, where he has been employed in a number of roles in many countries. He is now Director and Chairman of several of the Inchcape interests.

Adam Holloway, MP
Adam is a UK Member of Parliament. He served as a soldier in the first Gulf War before becoming a television reporter where he reported from around the world, including Bosnia and Iraq during the war. He is a former trustee of Christian Aid.

Rupert van der Horst, CBE
Rupert, after 33 years worldwide service in the Royal Marines, initially headed up the Community Health Services in Newcastle, followed by running an advisory service for landowners and farmers. He is now CEO of an educational charity.

Michael Mills
Michael is a retired business consultant with background in information and communication technology. After being employed by several multinational companies he established his own practice in 1997. His work has taken him to many parts of the globe. He also serves on the board of management of another charity concerned with rights for minority groups.

Graham Payne, OBE
Graham founded and directs RAPID-UK, a leading search-and-rescue charity with a worldwide track record in humanitarian disaster emergencies. This was founded on 32 years service with the West Country Ambulance Service. He is a serving Brother of St John Ambulance and the Area Staff Officer for North Devon.

Lynda Rose, MBE
Linda served as the Commanding Officer of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps) from 1998 until 2008. FANY provides emergency response assistance in London.

Patrick Vigors, Honorary Treasurer
Patrick spent 12 years in the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards before transferring to KPMG to become a chartered accountant. He is an active interim manager specialising in financial roles with startups and turnarounds.

Gregory Wolcough
Gregory is an experienced manager at all levels using innovative methods, and has worked in the charities field for the last 12 years.

Nicolas Wyldbore-Smith
Nick was in business for over 40 years, finally retiring as a director of Ind Coope and then served as clerk to one of the London Livery Companies (charitable foundations based in the City of London).
