Burkina Faso Flooding, September 2009

Deployment Details

Heavy rains fell on Ouagadougou on 1 September, causing flash floods that have affected some 109,000 people and destroyed property and other infrastructure. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced. Other damage includes blocked roads, flooded and/or collapsed houses, public infrastructure such a main hospital under water. Health officials fear the outbreak of water-borne diseases such as cholera.
