Deployment Details

Following a request from the United Nations in the region, MapAction is deploying a team to Manila to assist with information management and mapping. The team flies out from the UK on Monday 28 September and will provide situation information for national and international aid agencies responding to the emergency.

Nigel Woof, the MapAction team leader, commented: “Manila has clearly suffered huge damage and disruption. Despite the Philippines’ generally high level of disaster preparedness international help is likely to be vital in this emergency.”

This is MapAction’s fourth deployment to a flooding disaster so far in 2009.
